The apps.health marketplace is a growing ecosystem with more than 40 applications and services, all of which provide meaningful value to our EMR customers.  Whether you have just finished building your app, already have an established user base, or offer a non-EMR service, we encourage you to join the apps.health ecosystem and make your solution available to the more than 15,000 WELL EMR customers.

To get started or learn more about the program we encourage you to complete the apps.health partner intake form.

The process for listing your solution will depend on the “type” of product or service you offer. At the highest level, we have two main categories available on apps.health:

  1. Integrated Applications: any application that 1) require access to data from within the EMR, 2) updates data in the EMR or 3) launches from within the EMR.
  2. Non-EMR Clinical Services: any applications or clinical service that does not have a dependency on the clinic’s EMR.

Integrated Applications:

As these applications often access personal health information (PHI) and require development within the EMR, your application, or both, the process for joining apps.health as an Integrated Application is more involved and will depend on the EMR you are interested integrating to (OSCAR Pro, Intrahealth or AwareMD).

Almost all app partners begin by integrating with OSCAR Pro as it has an open FHIR-based API and SMART on FHIR infrastructure, which reduces the effort and time required for integration.

Once you have completed the apps.health partner intake form, the apps.health team will meet with you to learn more about your application and services you provide.  For all integrated apps, we expect at a minimum that you have a working prototype that you can demo, it serves a clinical purpose and you are compliant with all privacy and security requirements in the jurisdiction where you offer your product.

Assuming your application meets the criteria mentioned above, there are three streams for onboarding:

  1. Technical Integration: We will provide you with access to our developer documentation which outlines in detail the steps required to develop your integration with OSCAR Pro.  Once complete, our team will schedule conformance testing to ensure your integration works as expected.
  2. Privacy and Security Review: We will provide you with a copy of a privacy and security questionnaire, which is intended to assess your organization and applications privacy and security posture.  Once you have completed your integration, our cybersecurity team will review the questionnaire and may set up a separate call to discuss further.
  3. Partner Agreement: During development of your integration, we will share our standard partner agreement.  The exact terms of the agreement may differ depending on the type of application and integration required.

Once all three streams are complete, the apps.health team will work with you to create your profile on apps.health and marketing/promotional opportunities to increase awareness of your application.

Non-EMR Services

Non-EMR Clinical Services are a much broader category and generally cover any service that would benefit a clinic, ranging from medical supplies to employee wellness.  Given the variability of non-EMR clinical services, the process onboarding service partners is more flexible.

Once you have completed the apps.health partner intake form, the apps.health team will meet with you to learn more about the services your organization provides.  There are no specific criteria for services to be listed on apps.health, however it at a minimum should be relevant for clinics/clinicians.

Assuming that the apps.health team is comfortable with the service there are two streams for onboarding:

  1. Privacy and Security Review (if applicable): If you use any proprietary applications that store PHI, we will provide you with a copy of a privacy and security questionnaire, which is intended to assess your organization and applications privacy and security posture.  Once complete, our cybersecurity team will review the questionnaire and may set up a separate call to discuss further.
  2. Partner Agreement: During the initial call with the apps.health team, we will the partner agreement for service providers with you.  The exact terms of the agreement may differ depending on the type of service, however we generally encourage service providers to provide WELL clinics with a special offer or special pricing.

Once both streams are complete, the apps.health team will work with you to create your profile on apps.health and marketing/promotional opportunities to increase awareness of your application.
