Flu Automated Surveillance Tool (FAST)

The Public Health Agency of Canada’s (“PHAC”) FluWatch Program and the McMaster University Department of Family Medicine have created an automated tool that has been clinically validated as effective in the surveillance of influenza-like illness (“ILI”).  Known as the Flu Autmoated Surveillance Tool (“FAST”), it is the first and only electronic surveillance tool integrated with an EMR.  In 2021, the tool expanded to include surveillance of COVID-like illness.
